How to distinguish good quality CBD oil from a scam?

November 20, 2019 Michal Wlodarczyk

Cannabidiol is in its way, a revolutionary compound that we can supplement today in many different ways. Unfortunately, the popularity of products such as CBD oil, CBD capsules and hemp foods is also used by producers for whom quality is secondary. If you don’t want someone to pull your leg, learn how to distinguish high-quality CBD oil from scams.

Place of cultivation

Hemp, which CBD products are made out of, can be grown in any place with good growing conditions. These are both European countries as well as Asia or America. The problem, however, is that we are not always sure that the crop is organic and free from chemical additives.

Besides, soil quality is also paramount. Hemp can grow even in the harshest of conditions, and for that very reason, it was planted in Chernobyl to cleanse the soil there. It’s impressive, but let’s be honest. Who would like to supplement CBD oil made from plants grown on soil full of toxins?

It is best, therefore, that the plants are grown where their cultivation is subject to strict legal regulations. These are the countries of Europe and America.

Part of the plant from which the oil was made

CBD oils can be made from different parts of the plant, and this must be kept in mind. The most common mistake made by people who know little about CBD is buying hemp seed oil. That, unfortunately, has little to do with the dietary supplement CBD oil.

Hemp seed oil is called hemp oil. It is rich in fatty acids and other valuable nutrients, and it is used primarily for cooking. If you’re looking for an alternative to olive oil, hemp oil is a good option.

However, if you want to supplement cannabidiol, buy CBD oil made from hemp leaves and flowers. Only this type of extract should be treated as a dietary supplement.

Extraction method

The quality of products with CBD content is also affected by the cannabidiol extraction method. There are at least four: olive oil extraction, dry ice extraction, solvent extraction, CO2 extraction. It should be emphasised, however, that only the latter method produces CBD oil of high quality, is environmentally friendly and safe for health. Others are considered ineffective and yield poor quality.

The oil obtained by CO2 extraction is more expensive, but it stems from the need to use specialised equipment. Plus, it’s always worth paying for quality, right?

Tests carried out by an external laboratory

An external company should test each oil. Only then you can be sure that you are buying a product in line with what the manufacturer declares. Companies that do not make such tests available to their clients might have not carried them out at all. It is also worth emphasising that laboratory tests conducted by the manufacturer are unfortunately not a confirmation of credibility.

Finally, remember to check the opinions about both the manufacturer and the store. Thanks to this, you will make an informed decision and buy CBD oil of the highest quality.
