EVERYTHING ABOUT CBD FOR DEPRESSION
People say that depression is a Civilization disease of the 21st century. More and more people are struggling with its effects, and the vast majority are doomed to take pharmacological agents, which are often ineffective. Here, we answer – can CBD oil help fight depression?
What is depression
Depression is, in fact, a group of various mental disorders. For this reason, you can not only talk about one form of depression and one way of treating it. Most often, it manifests itself by a bad mood, reduced self-esteem, circadian rhythm dysfunctions, inability to experience pleasure or even suicidal thoughts.
More often than not, depression is accompanied by other mental disorders. Sometimes it is also the result of physical illness. Its diagnosis requires a detailed interview with the patient and choosing correct pharmacological agents can be very difficult. Sometimes the patient has to change the drugs several times a year because none seem to give any positive effect.
Pharmacological agents are also known to have their adverse effects. Sometimes it’s just nausea and tiredness, but sometimes you can get the opposite effect from the intended one – the depressive state of the patient intensifies. For this reason, people started paying attention to CBD oil, which – as we know – has no such side effects.
CBD oil is not a medical product
Although a lot is said about using CBD in depression, we need to clarify that CBD oil is not a medical product. We do not sell any product that has healing properties. CBD oil does not cure depression or other medical conditions.
However, products with CBD content should be separated from those attributed to them, often without evidence, actions. It is known that cannabidiol has a peculiar effect on human well-being, although it has no healing properties. That is where the controversy surrounding the subject of CBD use in depression arises.
CBD and depression – what is there to know?
Today we know that among other factors, it’s the dysfunction of the 5-HT 1A receptor that causes depression. Cannabidiol directly affects that receptor. It stimulates it and increases the effectiveness of the happiness hormones – dopamine and serotonin. More on that topic can be found here.
For this reason, CBD may seem to help in the treatment of depression. However, it is worth emphasising once again that CBD oils and other products are not medical products. CBD cannot replace pharmacological agents.
So, does CBD not have any properties that could affect our well-being? Not completely. CBD is said to possess relaxing properties. Such factors affect very well the person struggling with various types of anxiety, despite not being a remedy. Cannabinoid also lifts-up the mood, In spite of CBD not having intoxicating effects.
Many people struggling with depression also have trouble sleeping. In that case, CBD can prove to be beneficial. Thanks to its soothing properties, it’s a supplement that could help you get your sleep.
