The use of CBD hemp oil for athletes has been on the mouths of the people for a while now. When the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) removed it from its list of prohibited substances in 2018, the talks became even more often. What properties does CBD oil have, that persuade athletes around the world to use it? Read more, and find out!

Does CBD have any medical benefits?

The medicinal and therapeutic properties of cannabidiol have been studied for a long time. Those studies continue to this day. For some time now, there has been much talk about how, for example, could CBD be of aid in the treatment of epilepsy. Recently, in the U.S, a drug called Epidiolex, which is based on CBD, has been shown to alleviate symptoms of epilepsy and as such approved for use.

At this point, we want to emphasise that there are no medical products in our store, such as, for example, Epidiolex. All the products we sell, although containing CBD, are not curative.

Notwithstanding, it is worth discussing the use of CBD oil in sport; it turns out that some athletes openly praise its properties and effects.

CBD for athletes

When WADA removed CBD oil from its list of prohibited substances, people began to write about the positive effects that cannabidiol had on the athletes’ bodies. Among them, at least a few deserve mentioning.

1. CBD oil supports the regeneration of the body

Tired muscles need time to recover. We know, however, that there are sports in which you cannot afford those few days of break. A good supplement is CBD oil – it relaxes the muscles, which speeds up their regeneration.

2. CBD oil can have an “analgesic effect”

The physical exhaustion of the body can be painful, but CBD can suppress these ailments due to accelerated muscle regeneration.

3. CBD oil increases your appetite

That’s good news, especially for athletes who want to gain weight. Among many benefits of using CBD oil is the increase in appetite.

4. CBD oil is a natural and legal supplement

There are many prohibited additives, that’s a fact. However, this does not apply to CBD oil. Cannabidiol is the only such an efficient, natural and fully legal auxiliary that athletes can use.

As you can see, there are different reasons to use CBD oil. It is worth stressing, however, that all these properties are not medicinal. CBD oil is not a medical product, but it can be beneficial in any athlete’s everyday life.

CBD in sports

In 2016, the recording of Nate Diaz, who vaporised the CBD after his fight at UFC 202, went viral around the world. Many MMA fighters claim that CBD oil accelerates their regeneration and puts them back on their feet much faster. That is not the only sport in which cannabidiol plays or can play its part.

The National Football League speaks out about the benefits of CBD oil use. The players express their hopes for a change in regulations, which for the time being do not distinguish CBD oil from marijuana. Among the essential benefits of the cannabidiol, the NFL lists its painkilling property. A similar situation takes place in the NBA and MLB. In NHL, medical marijuana and CBD oil are not on the list of prohibited substances, but players must still go through drug tests for them.
